MANILA, Philippines—Record-breaking Filipino singer and actor juan karlos just released his latest single, “Tanga Mo Juan”, out now on all music streaming platforms. A follow-up to his recent release, “Limang Taon“, the track is the singer’s admission of his missteps in love.
With this release, an accompanying live performance video for “Tanga Mo Juan” set in the same universe as “Limang Taon” is also available for streaming.

“‘Di na natuto, ako’y naadik sa’yo. ‘Di na natutong mahalin ang sarili ko,” juan karlos begins the song, and from this, he readily admits his weakness and his inability to distance himself from his former flame.
“‘Di na natuto hanapin ang ’yong mali. ‘Di na makita ang aking sarili,” confirming his blindness in love, to the point of losing his identity.
Two lines are then repeated for the rest of the song, which the singer-songwriter delivers with various emotions, ranging from exasperation at himself to plain sadness: “O bakit ba lagi na lang akong nasasaktan? Kulang na lang sabihin nilang ang tanga mo naman juan.”

juan karlos cleverly plays with repetition with these two lines, which emphasize how the singer-songwriter constantly berates himself over his misfortunes with love and how he fears that others think of him as stupid because of it.
While “Tanga Mo Juan” is more mellow and acoustic-sounding than his hits “ERE” and “Buwan“, longtime listeners will be glad to hear that juan karlos’ emotive vocal performance is very much present in this song. Like “Limang Taon“, juan karlos is supported by Xergio Ramos on guitars, Ira Cruz on guitars, Karel Honasan on bass, Victor Guison on drums, and Nikko Rivera on keyboard for this track.
Live performance and lyric videos for “Tanga Mo Juan”, directed by Jaime Cabalum, have also been released on video streaming platforms. The live performance video has the same setting as the “Limang Taon” video, with a burning house as their unifying element.
Since the former’s release is about juan karlos choosing to love himself, the live performance video reflects that: he performs with the burning house as his backdrop, seemingly oblivious to it, and instead choosing to release his emotions as he sings.
On the contrary, “Tanga Mo Juan” is juan karlos at his most honest, admitting his shortcomings and knowing that they’re not benefiting him or anyone else around him. The live performance video reflects this, as it begins with him inside the house, passionately singing to the blazing items as if he’s finally confronting his lover.

Fully owning his tanga status, juan karlos is declaring a National Tanga Day on June 21, a Not-So-Official Non-Working Holiday in the Philippines. juan karlos created it as a lighthearted “holiday” to celebrate those who are stupid in love, because he understands how tiring it is to be a tanga.
To observe the holiday, juan karlos invites listeners, old and new, to sign a petition to make NationalTanga Day official, with “Tanga Mo Juan” as its official anthem.
For each milestone reached for the petition, juan karlos offers a chance for fans to win special prizes, such as a signed photo card, a juankarlos merchandise shirt, and an exclusive video greeting from the artist himself.
