When six of some of music and theater’s brightest stars come together, magic on stage is expected.

Long-time friends and constant collaborators Shiela Valderrama, Arman Ferrer, Lara Maigue, Gian Magdangal, Nyoy Volante and Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante are all making a case for heeding the call of the people to bring in the cheers this Holiday season.

It all started with a fun coming together of vocalists for a Valentine show. Now, the “welcome” clamor for the stage chemistry that goes beyond vocal harmony led them to roll their sleeves up for a full concert.

Individually, they are celebrated and acclaimed. As pairs, they are unstoppable. Together, we are looking at a highly-anticipated musical riot to ring in the glee that kicks off Christmas festivities.

Singer-actress and entrepreneur, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, is an Awit Awards winner with three decades of experience. For the past nine years, she has shared a close friendship and frequent partnership in theater with musical actor Arman Ferrer, who is also an Aliw, Gawad Buhay, and Awit Awards winner.

Both of them starred in the stage adaptation of “Maynila sa Kuko ng Liwanag” and “Rama, Hari.” This continuous relationship brought them together onstage outside the roles they found themselves playing. Most recent of which was a one-night only musical theater concert called “As We Are” in October last year, followed by a repeat that for season of love, “As Long As You’re Mine”.

This friendship naturally extended to another duo in the field: Lara Maigue, a long-time friend of Ferrer since college, and Gian Magdangal, who orbits the same circle as that of Valderrama. The two has been married for a year now. Maigue is a singer-songwriter while Magdangal a singer, and theater and TV actor. The couple has then performed their first full-length concert “The Greatest Duets”.

Binding this tightly-knit relationship among performers is another power couple Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante and Nyoy Volante, who have been married for 10 long years. Within those fruitful years, they have appeared together in “Kinky Boots” in 2018, and starred as a couple in the Philippine adaptation of “Into The Woods” in 2025.

With years of experiences and friendship between them, the two real-life couples appearing as guest artists, marking a success in Ferrer’s and Valderrama’s 2026 Valentine’s show is no surprising development in their relationship as artists and friends.

The chemistry that enjoyed great audience reception from their Valentine’s concert was so undeniable that deciding to perform together again was an easy decision.

“It didn’t really take much convincing!” they tell Rank Magazine.

In fact, it all clicked during the rehearsal of Dionne Warwick’s iconic song, “That’s What Friends Are For.” It was then that their concert producer Noel Ferrer tapped into the idea of doing a full concert together.

Volante, then, brought the question of “when” on the table and declared, “Why don’t we do it on Christmas?” which set the room buzzing with excitement.

Easily, taking this leap felt like a “natural progression” from having one performance to building something even bigger together. More than just a show, it’s a beautiful coming together of voices, musical influences, and styles that they can’t wait to unwrap for their audience. And given their long history of growing together over the years, bringing all of them on one stage made perfect sense.

“There was an energy and chemistry among the six of us that felt very natural. We genuinely enjoyed sharing the stage, and we think that translated to the audience.”

Their bond even goes deeper beyond curtain calls as they have supported one another through many seasons in their lives. Their children have grown close, and some of them have even stepped up to become godparents to each other’s kids. This truly shows that they are family, not by blood, but by craft and by heart.

Despite having different stories, personalities, and voices, they complement each other well, which makes this unbreakable bond stronger through the years. The group turns their differences into a strength that is needed in the whole process of planning the concert. Their trust and understanding with one another makes it even easier to work together.

“We’re [very] comfortable with one another. We can laugh, exchange ideas, tease each other, and still be completely professional when it’s time to work. Chemistry isn’t something you can manufacture. It comes from trust, friendship, and genuinely enjoying each other’s company. And we think that’s what makes performing together so much fun,” they further.

What makes their friendship special is how it translates easily beyond the stage. They view their connection with mutual respect and genuine affection.

Rooted in the same foundation in musical theater, their different backgrounds influence the way they approach concerts. For them, taking the stage is not simply about delivering a song—it is, after all, a high form of storytelling.

“It’s also about conveying emotions and connecting with an audience.”

Their diverse musical identities are artistic assets that serve as the strength that fosters their creative dynamics. Having a common foundation is one thing, a bond or friendship on-stage and behind curtains then elevates their creative rhythm when performing together. It is a matter of valuing each other’s strength and artistry as performers to create something evocative together, not compete with one another.

“That’s what makes this collaboration exciting. Finding ways for our individual voices and personalities to complement one another while creating a cohesive and enjoyable musical experience.”

In the industry, they’ve been celebrated individually as vocal powerhouses, but together, they continue to test and discover how to share the joy of performing alongside people they cherish, celebrating the unrelenting synergy they’ve built both on and beyond the stage.

“Christmas 3” represents the very spirit the Christmas season brings, making it an invitation to a sanctuary where people celebrate their love for each other and being together during the Holidays.

On the drawing board, with credentials tucked nicely under each of their belts, the musical event is shaping to be an evening full of beautiful harmonies, laughter, and a pure celebration of the season. Banking on building magic and wonder with the yuletide spirit, the group specifically crafted a repertoire of songs packed with Christmas classics and favorites and a few unexpected surprises. Every detail is designed to bring warmth and happiness to all generations during the holiday season.

“Christmas music has its own magic, and we’re bringing together familiar Christmas classics, contemporary holiday favorites, beautiful harmonies, and a few unexpected musical moments.”  They continue, “With six performers who have different vocal strengths and musical influences, there’s so much room for creativity.”

“More than anything, we hope people leave the theater feeling happy, uplifted, and reminded of the warmth and magic of Christmas.”

Creating a musical ensemble that will evoke and hit right through the people’s core this season of nostalgia and wanting to feel that Christmas warmth, all the while still having the ability to explore as artists admittedly becomes a walk into a tightrope for them. But to truly fulfill the audience’s expectation while still offering their unique artistry, the show must architect a natural yet beautifully crafted feeling of serendipity. It is striking a balance where both sides get fulfilled and seamlessly united.

“Ultimately, what matters most to us is the connection with our audience. Whether it’s joy, nostalgia, laughter we want them to walk away feeling that they’ve experienced something meaningful, memorable, and truly enjoyable.”

“Christmas 3” is happening on Sunday, November 29, 2026 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater, Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati City.
