MANILA, Philippines—In a recent showcase, global apparel retailer UNIQLO announces the launch of the 2024 Fall/Winter collection for UNIQLO : C, a special line from renowned British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller, known for her sophisticated, effortless sartorial direction. The 2024 Fall/Winter collection captures this very propulsive rhythm of city life with a line of elevated LifeWear essentials, with visual cues inspired largely by brutalist landmarks in London. The clean lines and fine details stand out to breathe life to the atmosphere of the city in autumn and winter with beauty and true comfort.
British designer Clare Waight Keller has long had a body of work that boasts of influence in many of the world’s top fashion houses, where she has been the Creative Director of some of the world’s best-known luxury brands in London and Paris. This is where she oversaw ready-to-wear and couture collections. In 2018 she won Womenswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. She was named one of the most influential people of 2019 in TIME magazine’s TIME 100 Awards.
An introduction to menswear
Marking a significant first on this line, a menswear collection that captures the go-to everyday essentials for the season makes its entry, where fine broadcloth shirts in soft tones cut to an oversized silhouette contrast with the warmth of iconic lambswool blends in a contemporary high V-neck and felted knitted tailored jacket. These combine with relaxed parachute pants, smart coordinating sweats and a generous utility parka for a casual, relaxed city feel. Complementing these urban styling cues, accessories include a soft volume nylon totes and even sleek monotone low cut sneakers.
A new mood in womenswear
Making its way to the HEATTECH staples, in a fine cashmere blend, ultra smooth and warm, is now an essential base layer of styling. Lightweight knitted cashmere in beautiful soft tones comes in a cropped vest and crew cardigan. Lightly-padded shrunken sleeveless jackets layered over long bias dresses in trad checks, pleated skirts or slim rib merino knits do add richness to a Fall/Winter wardrobe. To elevate this, soft padded clogs, hooded neck warmer, and fluffy soft fringed stoles bring a cosy feel to finish the look.
On this collection release, Keller said, “I am thrilled to be launching menswear alongside womenswear for the new collection. I have always loved the interplay between the utility of men’s clothing with the feminine elements of womenswear. These collections see the two combine seamlessly in palette, fabrication, and style, creating a wardrobe of truly interchangeable pieces.”
