The Barkada Search is Now In Full Motion as ‘Bagets: The Musical’ Sets the Stage for 2026 Run

MANILA, Philippines — Fresh off its well-received news of an upcoming production, in a recent announcement, auditions are now open for the upcoming stage adaptation of the hit 1984 coming-of-age Filipino film for “Bagets: The Musical”. The iconic ’80s barkada is making a comeback with a fresh generation of young talented performers.

Auditions officially started on July 14 from 1PM to 6PM, and on July 15 from 1PM to 4PM at the PETA Theater Center Studios, Quezon City from applicants who filled out official forms early this month. Casting is open to males and females aged 15 to 50 years old who can sing, act, and dance.

For the audition, aspirants are asked to prepare 16 bars of a pop ballad, 16 bars of an upbeat 1980s song, and a 16-bar dance routine. Principal roles include Tonton, Adie, Gilbert, Topee, and Arnel, along with ensemble parts portraying classmates, teachers, and family members.

Bagets The Musical is scheduled to run from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Newport World Resorts. The stage production is a joint production of Viva Entertainment, The Philippine STAR, and Newport World Resorts. Rehearsals is slated to commence from November 2025 to January 2026.
