MANILA, Philippines—With a creative collaboration spanning 11 years, theater mainstays Floy Quintos and Dexter M. Santos have steered the wheel behind memorable significant theater productions as “Collection”, “Ang Nawalang Kapatid”, “Ang Huling Lagda ni Apolinario Mabini”, “Angry Christ”, “The Kundiman Party”, and “The Reconciliation Dinner”.
For their seventh collaboration, and ultimately Quintos’ swan song, dives deep into Filipino spirituality and faith with “GRACE“. The play is based on the powerful true story of Teresita Castillo, then a novice nun, who claimed that after many encounters with the devil, the Virgin Mother appeared to her in the convent of the Discalced Carmelites in Lipa Carmel, Batangas as Mary, Mediatrix of all Grace.
The story of Sister Teresing Castillo and the supposed apparitions and miracles caused a national controversy in 1948. This controversy has never been truly resolved and continues to haunt the Philippine church and its faithful today.
Revisiting this story and bringing it to the stage, “GRACE” boasts a powerhouse ensemble of seasoned theatre actors Stella Cañete – Mendoza, Shamaine Centenera – Buencamino, Frances Makil – Ignacio, Missy Maramara, Matel Patayon, Leo Rialp, Dennis Marasigan, Nelsito Gomez, Jojo Cayabyab, and Raphne Catorce.
Joining Quintos and Santos in the artistic team are Mitoy Sta. Ana (Production Design), John Batalla (Lighting Designer), Steven Tansiongco (Graphic and Video Designer), Arvy Dimaculangan (Music and Sound Designer), Mikko Angeles (Assistant Director & Video Publicity), Marvin Olaes (Dramaturg and Publicity Manager), Davidson Oliveros (Dramaturg and Publicity Manager), and Meliton Roxas, Jr. (Technical Director).
