MANILA, Philippines—Excitement is spreading like wildfire in the country’s theater scene, and it’s all thanks to none other than Chito Miranda, the frontman of Parokya ni Edgar. He recently revealed the upcoming musical titled “Buruguduystunstugudunstuy,” a name that instantly rings a nostalgic bell for ’90s OPM enthusiasts. This tongue-twisting title is a nod to the band’s sophomore album, which produced some of their most iconic hits.
Prepare to rock out as “Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical” takes center stage at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Chito Miranda made the exciting announcement via NWR Musicals’ social media pages on September 11. The post also unveiled that this musical, created by Newport World Resorts’ Full House Theater Company, is scheduled for an epic debut on the grand stage next year.

The nationwide casting call is in full swing for this new musical extravaganza. Auditions are open to talented individuals, both male and female, aged 18 to 50, who possess singing and dancing skills. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CVs, along with an audition video performing 16 bars of any Parokya ni Edgar track. Submissions will be accepted from September 12 to October 1, and you can email them to PNE2024@gmail.com.

Following the online audition submissions, a three-day in-person audition is set for October 16 to 18. Aspiring performers who successfully pass the initial screening will receive invitations for the final callback auditions on October 24 to 26.
