Globe and SMAC Join Forces Again to Combat Involuntary Hunger with Hapag Movement

MANILA, Philippines—Leading digital solutions platform Globe and SMAC, the customer loyalty program of SM Retail Inc., have extended their partnership to support the Hapag Movement, an initiative addressing involuntary hunger among Filipino families.

Building on the success of last year’s campaign that raised PHP5.5 million, the renewed collaboration between Globe and SMAC aims to further contribute to the cause. From December 15, 2023, to January 31, 2024, every purchase of an SMAC kit at SM Stores will donate PHP50.00 to the Hapag Movement and the SM Foundation. Participating brands affiliated with SMAC will also make contributions when members shop during the campaign, including SM Fashion, Levi’s, Forever 21, Ecco, Simply Shoes, The Body Shop, SM Beauty, Our Home, Crate & Barrel, Kultura, SM Appliance Center, Surplus, and Sports Central.

Reflecting on the partnership, Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe, highlighted the impact of collaboration and shared values, emphasizing the commitment to using technology and community engagement for meaningful change.

Over the past year, the partnership between Globe and SMAC has supported immediate relief efforts and initiatives by Hapag Movement implementing partners Ayala Foundation Inc, Tzu Chi Foundation, and World Vision, including supplementary feeding and livelihood projects.

Jay Beltran, Head of Sales and Marketing at Digital Advantage Corporation (DAC), which operates SMAC, expressed inspiration from the Hapag Movement’s work and the significant results achieved in the previous campaign, prompting the decision to renew their efforts this year.

With the partnership renewal, Globe and SMAC aim to expand the reach and impact of the Hapag Movement to address the prevalence of involuntary hunger among Filipino families.
