Filipino Amazon Original ‘In My Mother’s Skin’ Gets Prime Video Premiere Date

MANILA, Philippines—Global streaming giant Prime Video has announced the eagerly awaited launch date for the Filipino Amazon Original film, In My Mother’s Skin. This haunting and unique cinematic experience, written and directed by the talented Kenneth Dagatan (known for ‘Ma’), is set to captivate audiences in the Philippines and across more than 240 countries and territories on October 12, 2023.

“In My Mother’s Skin” is a chilling Filipino horror fairytale that made waves as the sole non-English language film to have its world premiere in the Midnight Section of the prestigious 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The story delves into the agonizing conflict faced by a young girl torn between her duty to protect her ailing mother and her misguided trust in a beguiling, flesh-eating fairy.

The stellar cast includes Beauty Gonzalez, Felicity Kyle Napuli, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, James Mavie Estrella, and Angeli Bayani. When Tala’s father mysteriously departs once again in an attempt to negotiate his family’s freedom with the Japanese, the family finds themselves isolated in their remote forest home. As Ligaya’s condition deteriorates rapidly, Tala embarks on a quest to seek out a mysterious fairy who has promised to protect her. This ethereal being bestows Tala with a magical insect that initially provides relief to Ligaya but eventually leads to catastrophic consequences, compelling Tala to make a heart-wrenching decision.
