  • THE NEW ORDER ISSUE

New Sound, New Heights: Jenzen Guino Strikes the Right Chord

With musical sensibilities deeply rooted in and shaped by his household, 25-year-old singer-songwriter Jenzen Guino’s sonic orbit grew from a virtual platform fueled by his covers of anthems from icons of generations past, then with originals woven through narratives straight from lived experiences of his own and the people surrounding him. Now, with a string of recent releases backed by a new label and artistic home, he harnesses his inherent flair for telling stories through heartfelt hymns and catchy melodies, along with lyricism that’s reflective of his youth and with it, his universe of truth. Five years into the game, Guino marks himself ready for take off and onto higher ground with a crescendo of new pursuits from upcoming new hits and a promise to shift gears and take his artistry to new, greater heights.

‘Gets Ko Na’: Reflections on How ‘Sunshine’ Bares a Debate on Sex and Morality—and What it’s Like to be a Woman in 2025

With Maris Racal in the titular role, Antoinette Jadaone's "Sunshine" narrates the struggles of facing teenage pregnancy and paints a gritty, portrait of today's state of reproductive health in the Philippines—in its most raw, modern, visceral form. As it delves into the hardships of women in times of danger and personal crisis, the movie transforms into something even more wide-reaching that roots back to the inadequate support and importance to women's health, body autonomy—and her most basic right to be human.

A Question and a Lesson on How ‘Real’ is ‘Too Real’, and the Cost of ‘Saying it Anyway’

Candid is in, but care should never be out. When culture is the plate being passed around, the least we can do is taste it with humility. In the age of livestreamed slip-ups and snack-sized scandal, being real is currency but forgetting who's watching can cost more. Not every truth needs a timestamp, and not every bite needs to go viral. Because sometimes, it’s not what you say, but what you silence when you say it loud.
