GLOBAL RELEASE — It’s time to return to the Borderland as the global hit survival drama Alice in Borderland paints a picture of the dark road ahead for its long-awaited third season. On the lead up to its upcoming premiere this year on September 25, following a rather polarizing fan reaction of the Season 2 narrative twists and turns and diving back into the thrilling series adapted from Haro Aso’s popular comic, Netflix drops the official teaser of the loved Japanese dystopian drama.

Still with Shinsuke Sato at the helm, Season 3 stars Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, reprising their roles since the series’ 2020 inaugural drop at the streaming platform, along with an exciting lineup of new and returning actors from Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, Kento Kaku, and more join returning actors Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Katsuya Maiguma.

With this teaser trailer drop, these newly announced cast members are introduced to the equation: from ominous screams, blue-haired ambiguous characters, and guns directed at unknown targets.

The plot, following last season’s closing, jumps to what is now the married life of lead protagonists Arisu and Usagi. Clearing every card’s game and returning to the real world, with memories of the Borderland surfacing only in dreams and hallucinations, the two set out a happy life until Usagi vanishes. Distraught by her disappearance, Arisu gets visited by Banda, from the previous season and revealed now as a Borderland resident, who informs him where she is and the looming dark cloud that follows her in this journey back to the Borderland. Kento Kaku, plays Ryuji, deemed a pivotal character this season as an afterlife-obsessed man who guides Usagi in this dangerous trip to the alternate world.

With only the Joker card remaining, the game it holds for Arisu and the others remains a mystery. Teaming up with new players, they must face the yet-unseen “Joker” stage in a desperate bid to find a way back to their original world. With the trailer drop comes the newly released teaser poster with Usagi and Arisu desperately reaching out to one another with an art that captures the essence of a world that serves as a boundary between life and death.
