Nespresso, a global leader in coffee, has always been at the forefront of innovation, with its creative concoctions via its wide range of machines, accessories and beans and blends from all over the world.

From enticing the taste buds, Nespresso now tickles the mind through its newest initiative–the Nespresso Vertical Shorts 2018 competition–a celebration of innovation, passion, and excellence in filmmaking. Nespresso challenges directors and young creatives to share their stories through vertical videos. These films are aimed at becoming an all-sensory experience that allow you to reflect, think deep, and encourage others to do something different and amazing.

“We’re very excited to be introducing this new category in time for Cinemalaya,” shares Patrick Pesengco, Managing Director, Novateur Coffee Concepts Inc. “Nespresso has always been about celebrating moments and sharing stories, and so we look for to this new partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Cinemalaya Foundation as it brings us full circle to what the brand advocates and embodies.” For this year, the theme will be “pagmamalasakit” or empathy, which is a value most honored by Filipinos.

Submission of entries is ongoing for the Nespresso Vertical Shorts 2018 competition until June 29, 2018. The competition is open to all Filipinos, including those residing and working abroad. Select entries will be premiered at the Cinemalaya Film Festival from August 3 to August 12, 2018, with three chosen winners honored at the Awards Night on the last day of the festival at the CCP Little Theater.

Finalists and winners will get the chance to premiere their short film in the prestigious Cinemlalaya Film Festival. The first-place winner will receive P50,000 in cash, while the second and third place winners will receive P30,000 and P20,000, respectively. All winners will also take home state-of-the-art Nespresso machines and amazing coffee capsule packages.

“Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a new, aspiring creative, send in your entries. We must share the story of the Filipino and we must support the creative talents of our filmmakers and artists. We look forward to all the amazing stories you have to share,” notes Pesengco.
