GLOBAL — HITCO reveals that “Psycho,” the latest single from recording artist and global social media phenomenon Dixie D’Amelio featuring Rubi Rose, has surpassed 15 million streams globally and is currently at #29 on the US Pop Radio chart and climbing.
The music video for “Psycho,” released on August 6th, had over 4.6 million views on YouTube in its first month.
Dixie’s first music video “Be Happy” made waves on YouTube amassing over 18 million views in its first week of release, and is now nearing an extraordinary 110 million views in just over one month. Penned by Dixie this year, “Psycho” exemplifies her relatability and connection to her following of over 100 million, where she illustrates complex situations in dating and relationships that are often looked down upon and inspiringly transforms these shared experiences into an empowering theme with an unapologetic tone.
Of the track, Dixie says: “I wanted “Psycho” to tell a story about how someone else’s actions can make a normal person act completely out of character. I love how my co-writers Claire, Peter, Cooper and I were able to channel this emotion into a song that I know so many can relate to and feel more together and empowered even, instead of feeling embarrassed.”
“Psycho” is the most recent by-product of one of many HITCO produced writing camps, in which they invited another HITCO shining artist, Rubi Rose, to lend her talented vocals. GRAMMY® Award Winner and HITCO Co-Founder LA Reid said “The chemistry between Dixie and Rubi is undeniable. ‘Psycho’ represents what happens when two dynamic female stars from their own lanes come together and make a real statement record. I know their fans are going to go crazy for it!”
The song was written by Dixie with Claire Chicha and Peter Fenn and it was produced by Cooper Holzman. “Since entering the studio for the first time to record music, I’ve always gravitated to songs and lyrics that had a deeper meaning to me, so I knew from early on that I wanted to have a deeper role in the writing process. As I continue to release new music and express myself in ways that are still new to me, I want to make sure it comes from the heart,” said Dixie about her decision to focus on writing as a fairly new artist.
“Psycho” arrives soon after Dixie’s latest release “Fuckboy” which hit #1 on the Billboard Triller Chart, marking her third #1 hit. Dixie has had over 500 million career streams to date, 300 million of them from her debut single “Be Happy.” Media has taken note and celebrated her, with Billboard awarding her December Chartbreaker, Forbes placing her on their coveted Forbes 30 Under 30 List and YouTube prominently placing her on their Top Breakout Creators of 2020.
