MANILA, Philippines—Now on its third year, Spotify has unveiled its 2023 RADAR artist lineup for the Philippines, demonstrating its continued commitment to promoting Filipino music.

The selection includes fresh P-Pop groups AlamatVXON, and G22, hip-hop trio PLAYERTWO and female artist DENȲ, R&B talent Illest Morena, breakthrough solo acts Paul Pablo, Kenaniah, and Paolo Sandejas, and RADAR returnees mrldBINI, and KAIA. The Spotify RADAR program has since shown support to emerging artists by helping them reach new audiences.

According to Kossy Ng, Head of Music for Spotify Asia, “The growth of RADAR is a testament to a global appetite for local music. From soloists to groups, P-Pop to Hip-Hop, each of these artists across genres have displayed such talent; that they have seen new fans beyond the Philippines! This is just the beginning, and we’re so excited to introduce all of them to a broader fan base through RADAR Philippines 2023.”

Up-and-coming P-Pop group Alamat expressed their pride at being included in the lineup and stated that it reflects the continuous exploration of new sounds and styles by Filipino artists. They also noted that being part of this cultural movement is rewarding, as it is gaining traction not only in the Philippines but also among international audiences.

Spotify’s RADAR program amplifying Filipino artists and breaking down musical borders

Spotify amplifies local creators and supports their growth through its platform and programs, recognizing the growing popularity of diverse music in the Philippines. Hip-Hop group PLAYERTWO, based in Davao, shares that they infuse their roots and background in their music, as seen in their song “THAT’S MY BABY” which features Bisaya in the intro.

Spotify also equips artists with tools such as  Spotify for Artists , which allows them to gain insights into their music and fan base.

Borderless access for Filipino artists

With Spotify’s year-long playlisting, marketing initiatives, and global reach, Pinoy artists are breaking through beyond the Philippine borders. In the past year, RADAR Philippines recorded streams from 43 countries, promoting the discovery of featured artists to listeners across the world.

Returning RADAR artist, mrld, saw a remarkable 160% increase in listeners in the past year, reaching international shores such as the U.S.A., India, and Malaysia. The singer-songwriter even broke through the top charts in Indonesia. “Spotify RADAR helps so many artists, including myself, to be heard by a lot of people. Through Spotify, my fans can connect with me and my music with just a click.”
