MANILA, Philippines—Toronto-based collective New West has just released their captivating new single, “Cold Tea,” via Giant Music/Republic Records, in anticipation of their highly awaited debut album, “Based On A True Story,” set to drop on October 20th.

“Cold Tea” weaves together acoustic guitar, ethereal synths, organic drums, and introspective lyrics, culminating in a rousing chorus that questions past perceptions: “You say you miss the old me, but what the heck does that mean? Don’t pretend to know me, you’re just spilling cold tea.” The song concludes with a declaration of newfound independence, stating, “I’m just more myself these days.”

Highlighting their global appeal, New West recently wowed audiences in Indonesia with a spectacular performance at Soundrenaline 2023. During their set, they brought Indonesian Idol winner Nyoman Paul on stage for a duet on their breakout hit, “Those Eyes,” resulting in an ecstatic crowd response.

“Cold Tea” follows the release of their track “IYKYK” and their fan-favorite bundle “homecoming / in my city” in 2023, both of which have garnered millions of streams and critical acclaim. A1234 hailed their music as “soaring anthems that make you feel as if you’re flying through the sky, while remaining completely grounded within their ideology.”

New West continues to captivate audiences worldwide on tour, with upcoming performances supporting Tegan And Sara in Austin, TX on October 12 and at Austin City Limits on October 14th. They will also open for Charlotte Cardin on her US tour, including stops at New York’s Irving Plaza on October 27th and two nights at LA’s The El Rey on November 6th & 7th. Additionally, they will headline a show at The Opera House in Toronto, Ontario, on December 15. For the full tour schedule, visit www.newwest199x.com.
