MANILA, Philippines—Just in time for YGIG’s first anniversary and PLUUS’ recent love song release, SBTown and Universal Records Philippines treat fans to an early Christmas gift through the collaborative Christmas song, Maligaya ang Pasko.
Meaning ‘The Christmas is happy/merry,’ this song also playfully echoes ‘Maligayang Pasko’ or ‘Merry Christmas!’ The track narrates a guy’s heartfelt attempts to win the affection of the girl he likes, with humorous twists leading to climactic rejections. Despite the romantic misadventures, YGIG and PLUUS infuse the song with laughter and charm.

Known for their powerful sibling dynamics, YGIG and PLUUS consistently impress with their song releases. YGIG marked their comeback with the two-month-long release of their album ‘YLGOIVGE,’ while PLUUS dropped two singles, ‘Missing You’ and ‘Shining Star.’ This collaboration follows YGIG’s Maeg joining PLUUS’ Justin as the leading lady in the ‘Shining Star’ music video.
Beyond the collaboration song, YGIG and PLUUS have actively engaged in joint mall tours (WeGo SUM-all Tour), TV appearances on All-Out Sundays (GMA) and ASAP Natin ‘To (ABS-CBN), magazine features (PARCINQ), and various events. Both groups showcased their talent on an international stage, representing the Philippines at the Jeonju Music Festival 2023 in South Korea last August.

As a festive conclusion to the year, YGIG and PLUUS aim to spread warmth and joy through their Christmas song, especially to those spending the holidays alone. ‘Maligaya ang Pasko’ is the 6th officially released song for both groups, with YGIG’s previous hits including ‘Shaba-Shaba,’ ‘Doob Doob,’ ‘Touchdown,’ ‘BB (Beautiful Boy),’ and ‘IDKY,’ and PLUUS’ lineup featuring ‘My Time,’ ‘Cross My Heart,’ ‘Amigo,’ ‘Missing You,’ and ‘Shining Star.’
YGIG, an acronym for ‘You Go I Go,’ comprises Alexei, Hazelyn, Jewel, JM, Maeg, and Vien. PLUUS, derived from ‘Plus, Us,’ consists of JL, Justin, Haro, Gab, Theo, and Yen. These two groups are poised to make their mark in the local and international music scenes, representing Filipino culture with their distinct sound.
