MANILA, Philippines—Singapore-based singer-songwriter IZPZ delves deeper into his musical journey with his second single, “Underneath.” This emotionally charged track is slated for release on all major streaming platforms on September 22, 2023, just a month after his enchanting debut single, ‘In Sight.’ Alongside the single, IZPZ will unveil a self-directed music video.
“Underneath” is a haunting and introspective composition, characterized by its raw emotion, poetic lyricism, and potent metaphors. It delves into profound themes of loss, uncertainty, and the quest for meaning. IZPZ shares the inspiration behind the song: “I wrote ‘Underneath’ as a way to process my own experiences with loss and grief, both past and anticipated. Growing up in an Asian society, we often struggle to express our feelings until it’s almost too late. Even with our closest family and loved ones, we find it challenging to say simple things like ‘I love you’ or ‘I need help, I am not doing well.’ We tend to bottle up these emotions, sometimes until the end. This song addresses that struggle – reconciling unspoken thoughts and emotions, even after losing someone dear. My hope is that this song offers comfort and solace to anyone facing difficult times, reminding them that they are not alone.”
“Underneath” marks the second chapter in IZPZ’s musical journey, with more music slated for release in the coming months, culminating in an EP early next year.
