Film director Todd Phillips took to his social media account to give a glimpse of Joaquin Phoenix’s talked about role as the new Joker in the upcoming origin story of the caped crusader’s villain. In a post, the film director known for his work as writer and director for films like Road Trip, War Dogs, and The Hangover Trilogy, shared a snap of Phoenix, simply captioned, “Arthur,” referencing to the name of the character, Arthur Fleck, who would be later on be one of the most known nemesis of Batman.

This was then followed up by a short clip that said, “Camera test w/ sound”, this time, a teaser of the actor in his pre-villain look, who would eventually morph into the character’s fully recognizable garb, backdropped by The Guess Who’s “Laughing”.

The clip serves as a creepy yet all too enticing teaser to the upcoming untitled film featuring the Joker set to be released in October of 2019. It is reported that Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz are slated to join Phoenix in the movie.
