Who Run the World? These Female Artists Just Ruled the 2021 Grammys Stage

Not even the Covid-19 pandemic can stop female artists from releasing their music, let alone impacting the world with their artistry even at a time of this great big pause we are in. Even more so, on the night of the 2021 Grammys, it was women who dominated the stage and took home the most prestigious awards. 

The 63rd Grammys was a  triumphant night for women in the music industry. From pop albums, to rap and R&B music, here are  the list of female artists who made a mark on the event:

BEYONCE IS THE MOST AWARDED WOMAN IN GRAMMY HISTORY

It is no secret that culture-shaping singer-entrepreneur Beyonce makes history wherever she goes. But on the night of the 2021 Grammy awards, the pop superstar won the Best R&B Performance for “Black Parade,’’ best music video for “Brown Skin Girl,” and Best Rap Song for  “Savage (Remix)” with Megan Thee Stallion.

She also had the most nominations, with nine in total. As of this post, Queen B holds 28 Grammy awards, the most by a female artist.

Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” and “Evermore” helped millions of people withstand the isolation brought by the series of quarantine. Her hard work definitely paid off when she won the Album of the Year award.

Swift is the first female performer to win this award three times. It can be recalled that she  previously took home the award in 2010 and 2015, respectively.

The 19-year-old multi-awarded singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has achieved so much in her young age. The female singer has just bagged the Record of the Year award. As of this post, Eilish has already won seven Grammys.

THE BEST NEW ARTIST AWARDEE IS MEGAN THEE STALLION

Everyone should watch out for Mehan Thee Stallion who won the Best New Artist award at the 63rd Grammys. This American rapper and singer-songwriter also earned the Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song with Beyonce. She is the first female rapper honored in the latter.

H.E.R. and TIARA THOMAS TOOK HOME THE SONG OF THE YEAR AWARD

Filipino-American R&B singer and songwriter H.E.R. together with Tiara Thomas won Song of the Year award for “I Can’t Breathe” a nod to the Black Lives Matter movement and the death of George Floyd in the hands of the police.

When Mother Monster Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande released “Rain On Me” on the early months of the quarantine, everybody danced and sang their hearts out; that is why it is no longer surprising that the song would bag the Best Pop Duo Award.

Her album “Future Nostalgia” competed against Justin Bieber’s “Changes,” Lady Gaga’s “Chromatica,” Harry Styles’ “Fine Line,” and Taylor Swift’s “Folklore.”
