MANILA, Philippines Hot on the heels of a successful relaunch in 2024, Boxstage Manila, the all-FTG alumni theater group returns with a restaging of George de Jesus III’s Palanca Award-winning play, “Sala sa Pito“. In partnership with Far Eastern University (FEU), FEU Alumni Relations Office (FEU-ARO), FEU Center for the Arts (FCA), and FEU Theater Guild (FTG), the production is directed by FTG’s Artistic Director and PETA Senior Artist Teacher Dudz Teraña.

Boxstage Manila has since built a reputation for delivering compelling performances, as is with its acclaimed 2020 run of Risa Jopson’s adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig” and its successful relaunch production of Allan Lopez’s “Anatomiya ng Pag-ibig“. With “Sala sa Pito“, the company pushes forth with its commitment to delivering thought-provoking and immersive theater experiences.

The play, loosely inspired by Arthur Schnitzler’s “La Ronde”, presents a series of interconnected scenes set in a restaurant, a club, a café, a lugawan, and a bar, each exploring love and human connections. Set in 1990 and accompanied by the soulful music of the time, “Sala sa Pito” features eight characters navigating emotional and relational complexities—delving into themes of intimacy, vulnerability, power, and the ever-changing dynamics of relationships.

With Teraña’s direction, this staging sets its sights on offering a fresh perspective on relationships, led by a strong cast and a dedicated creative team, the production promises to be a compelling theatrical experience that will leave a lasting impact on audiences, featuring alternating performances by Kat Galang and Yesh Burce as Misis, Rowi Du and Kobie Hachero as Mister, Divine Aucina and Jamille Vivas as Matrona, AJ Sison and Jasper Estaras as Yuppie, Kloren Flores and Karyl Oliva as GRO, Jel Tarun and Jemuel Satumba as Masseur, JD Reyes as Waiter, Brigitta Claire Marilla as Singer, Jonas Cunanan and Renz Dotillos as part of the ensemble.
