MANILA, Philippines — Following a celebrated night for and by the theater community, “Shrek The Musical,” produced by Travellers Group’s production arm Full House Theater Company (FHTC), received six awards and a special citation, ultimately emerging as the most awarded musical at the 16th Gawad Buhay Awards.

The awards were presented at the storied Aliw Theater in Pasay City by the Philippine Legitimate Stage Artists Group (Philstage), the country’s premier organization recognizing excellence in live performing arts.

Jamie Wilson took home the Male Lead Performance in a Musical trophy for his portrayal of Shrek, while acclaimed actor and awarded stage director Topper Fabregas received the Male Featured Performance in a Musical for his performance as Donkey. The production also earned Outstanding Stage Direction for a Musical for Dexter Santos, Outstanding Choreography for Stephen Viñas, and Outstanding Projection and Video Design for GA Fallarme, Justin Santiago, and JM Jimenez. The production was also named Outstanding Production for Children and received a Special Citation for Achievement in Puppetry.

“Every award reflects the collective work behind this production, from the artists onstage to the creative, technical, and production teams behind the curtain. We are grateful to Philstage and the Gawad Buhay jury for recognizing their work,” shared FHTC Artistic Director Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo.

FHTC entered this year’s awards with 18 nominations. “Shrek The Musical” received 12 nominations, while “Delia D.: A Musical Featuring the Songs of Jonathan Manalo” earned six across performance, direction, choreography, design, and production categories.

The all-Filipino production of “Shrek The Musical” has brought the beloved Broadway story to the Newport Performing Arts Theater. Led by Wilson as Shrek and directed by Santos, the production featured Filipino performers and creatives bringing the fairytale characters to life onstage.

Meanwhile, “Delia D.: A Musical Featuring the Songs of Jonathan Manalo” starred Phi Palmos in the title role and features the songs of Jonathan Manalo in an original story celebrating identity, courage, family, and the pursuit of one’s dreams.

The recognition affirms Full House Theater Company’s commitment to producing world-class theater while providing a stage for Filipino performers, creatives, and production professionals.
